Well another Christmas day over, was one of the best Christmas times I’ve had in a long time. Thank you everyone.

Today it’s back to work. Panto again at 5pm. Then it’s into our last 2 weeks before its all over for another year.

It’s official, I am now an official Eddie Stobart Spotter. Was bought a membership to the fan club for Christmas by Beth, and I can fly over the depot in Carlisle with my flying lesson from Mam.

Twas The Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, except for that mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Justin’s House danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
A drunken Chav, lay down, covered in beer.

He spotted me, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment he was going to be sick,
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he curesed, and shouted, and called me some name!

“Now *&^^&! now, *$%^^! now, &*^^& and you git!
On, ^%^^&! On, *&(&! on, on %^&^% did spit!
On the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Vomit as fast as a commet did spawll!”

He was dressed all in burbury, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with fag ends and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had half inched on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

I chased him away with spritly and a scare!
With all of my might, nothing to spare!
Beth at the door, wondering what I was doing,
I shouted back, it’s ok its not worth chewing.

The girls had awoken with all of the racket
So in went Pete with a Pepper Pig Jacket.
Tilly did cry, and Ginny did too
When all of a sudden, he smelled poo.

Tilly looked up, smilled and grinned,
Shouted Tada, tada and did it again…
Pete just laughed and tucked her back in,
Then Ginny did shout, put this in the bin.

Hillary got up and went to the sofa,
She sat sipping wine while hunting for that goffer… (I mean mouse….)
While looking at the tree and thinking aloud,
Out poped the mouse all merry and proud.

We all went to bed after an hour,
I left the mouse to hideout and cower,
As long as it hides for all of the day,
Not eating the dinner which is coming our way.

Over half way

I write this sat in the green room at the Gala, we are now over half way through the run of Jack and the Beanstalk. The last 3 weeks have seen the show go from strength to strength with celebs such as Matt Baker visiting us today to watch and show his support for local theatre.

The 12 Days of Christmas has taken a new twist with props apearing from anywhere on the stage or in the auditorium, keeping the cast on thier toes.

With only 2 days now till Christmas we have 2 shows tomorow and a day off on Sunday, but no rest, as we are back on Boxing day with an evening performance.

Anyway, not alot to say today, so will have a post later.

Sinbad, Sinfully Bad. Royalty Theatre Flop.

Well, I think this must be the first negative review the Royalty Theatre has had for a very long time. Could this be the beginning of the end? Sinbad is not a panto. There are over 25 pantos in the North East this year, and it’s not the only one in Sunderland. Infinity have a show, Crowtree leisure centre will be hosting one. To be honest I don’t think the theatre has very long left to go with declining members and audience numbers year on year. One thing I was pleased to see however was the new names in the cast list, however the same old faces as the dame with Gordon Philipson and Simon Marks taking a regular role. I thought I had made a change with the style last year with Jonny Chambers interpretation of Jack And The Beanstalk, bringing a modern twist and performance style. Let’s hope next years see’s a much needed improvement, that is if the venue is still producing.

Into the swing of things now

Sat in the wings while a few sound tweaks are done after the last 2 preview shows of panto.

Show 3 starts at 7pm and we have the scene changes cracked. Interval preset is only taking around 3-4 mins and is the reset at the end of the show.

Great bunch of people to work with.

2 shows tomorow then its a day off on Sunday, family visits I think.

Back to the North East

Back to the North East after a great weekend in Blackpool. Saw the circus, saw the wurlitza organ and went to the dungeon.

Ready for work tomorow back at the Gala in Durham.

Second day in blackpool. Headed out along the pleasure beach thismorning, then its off to Preston for lunch with some friends.

Had a good day at the tower yesterday.
